Me? : What I've felt, what I've known, turn the pages, turn to stone...

I can't believe I've never posted about this game before, especially considering my deep interest and affinity for this classic game.

Before I get into details about the game, which I'm certain most of you are already aware, let me give you a background of the game.

Monopoly is a redesign of an earlier game "The Landlord's Game", first published by the Quaker and political activist Elizabeth Magie. The purpose of that game was to teach people how monopolies end up bankrupting the many and giving extraordinary wealth to one or few individuals.

Since the game was created, more than one billion people have played it, making it "the most played (commercial) board game in the world." The 1999 Guinness Book of Records cited Hasbro's previous statistic of 500 million people having played Monopoly. Games Magazine has inducted Monopoly into its Hall of Fame. The mascot for the game, known as Mr. Monopoly or Rich Uncle Pennybags, is a mustached man in morning dress with a top hat.

So yes, the original purpose of the game was to make people realize the harsh realities behind there being baseless tax authorities and for that matter a central bank, which you ALWAYS owe money to. Sadly, this isn't the effect of the game anymore and central banks and baseless taxes exist to-date in even the most "theoretically" advanced societies. Anyone who has studies economics would know that a truly "Free trade market" is simply theory and there are no factual implementations of this. There are variants in presence but the central bank still always controls the government and the people since it is the only one who owns the money and in-fact lends the money even to the government. Watch Zeitgeist for a slightly more detailed understanding of this situation.

Present Versions that exist are:
- Classic Monopoly
- Electronic Banking Monopoly (Why carry and count cash? This one has debit card systems)
- Regional edits of classic Monopoly (same prices/rules however names of places are changed)
- Here and Now edition (Start talking Millions and start thinking of buying cities instead of single properties or streets)
- Monopoly City (New dynamics are introduced in this game, in my honest opinion, its the most intriguing I've played so far. e.g. If you build a Hotel, someone who owns a property right next to you can also build a garbage plant (or something like it) to devalue your property and reduce the fare you collect on the hotel)

PC Gaming??
I have discovered some electronic versions of monopoly which seem to be rather decent.
- Classic Monopoly
-- Play against the Computer versions
-- Play against the computer and/or other humans over LAN/WAN/Internet

- Here and Now edition
-- Play against the computer

- Monopoly City
-- Play against the Computer (much more customizable computer players)

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out--because I was not a Jew;
Then they came for me--and there was no one left to speak out for me.

hehe yeah ... I've whooped a couple of guys with monopoly on their iphones claiming to be kings (i'm not saying ur not :P )

However, the computer ones seem to be much more aggressive in deals. Especially if you play 1 classic version vs. the computer on a medium or hard setting .... those guys play by 1 rule (as far as I can tell) ... pc vs human :P so the computer players are still a little nicer to each other as compared to you.

The most evil and creative play i've seen yet is in Monopoly City edition .... you don't need the whole set to build houses and there are upto 8 blocks which can be built and blah blah blah ... too bad that one can't be played against other humans using IP addresses (same location yes, but not remote locations) cuz that I'd liks to play!

To better understand the concepts of Monopoly City here is a fun post from CollageHumor

NOTE: The concepts are similar in it. Not Exactly like this (to my knowledge and experience playing the game)
